Synopsis
What would you do if you've lost everything? If the reason you woke up in the morning no longer existed? If life dealt you a blow so devastating that something as simple as breathing was just too painful, how would you find the strength to go on?

Review
How does anyone recover from a loss so incredibly earth shattering that leaves an emptiness that will seem like it's impossible to ever fill again?
The prologue and first few chapters of this book completely destroyed me emotionally. The pain that Nicole is going through comes out of those pages and gets under your skin, you want to cry with and for her, you want to console her, but most of all, you wish you could give this poor woman back what she lost. Nicole is going through the motions in life but she's not really living due to her loss.
Enter Shawn Burns, he's a divorce attorney and unfortunately in his profession he's seen the the bad, the ugly and the really really ugly. To the world (and his family) he's a playboy, he's playing the field and avoiding commitment at all costs. Shawn and Nicole knew each other in college and back then there were feelings involved but she ended up marrying someone else.
At a moment in time where Nicole is at a complete loss, will Shawn be the man to be there for her and help her put the pieces of her life back together?
I was in awe of this author and her ability to put me in Nicole's shoes, and one hundred percent make me feel her pain, her anguish, her guilt. It all became a bit too much at times but I found that all those things combined, were what made this story one will stay with readers.
I loved, loved, loved Shawn, the man stepped up and his friendship and complete devotion brought Nicole back from the horrible place where she was. Not an easy task since she felt she didn't deserve the things that were being giving to her due to her guilt.
Shawn's whole family was a joy to read about, specially Mama Burns. I'm hoping that we get a book with Shane's, Shawn's twin brother's, story.
This is a story of loss, friendship, self forgiveness, and learning to live and love again.
Highly recommended but please have tissues close by because you are definitely going to need them.
